Hi Everyone, I’m Miranda!

I primarily help first responders feel more confident when responding to calls, by building strength and endurance to keep themselves and others safe. I have two younger brothers who are firefighters as well as several friends who are first responders. Therefore it seems only natural that I gravitate towards sharing my love of being active and motivating, with first responders. 

After years of working in the child welfare field and never truly feeling like that was where I belonged, I tried becoming a first responder myself. However, that was not meant to be and I know now that I was meant to work with first responders through personal training. 

My personal journey in health and fitness started early when I asked my parents to sign me up for girls’ softball around the age of 7.  I continued to play until I was 18 years old, when I aged out of the league. I eventually rejoined the softball world in my early 30’s.  In high school, I ran track but once high school ended so did being physically active until at 26 I joined a local Community Centre’s group fitness classes. From there, I moved onto a local Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing) studio and trained for both sanctioned and unsanctioned fights. Three years later, I started to seriously incorporate strength training into my daily routine, learning how truly strong I can be, which eventually led me to participate in Strongman competitions; because, why not!?

At the age of 30, I focused my love of food, cooking and health to complete my education in Holistic Nutrition.

As a certified personal trainer, it is my goal to combine fitness and nutrition to primarily help first responders by providing a healthy outlet to manage work-related stress, while building strength, endurance and confidence through various forms of exercise.

MY APPROACH

TO CREATING A HEALTHIER, STRONGER & MORE CONFIDENT YOU

You’ve made the first step and reached out to Miranda Gibson for help and support to achieve your goals.  The intake forms are very detailed.  All this information I am collecting from you allows me to create a customized plan for your program that sets you up for success.

NUTRITIONAL SERVICES PROCESS

Step 1

You complete the nutritional intake forms and return them to Miranda Gibson Fitness.  Based on the information you have provided in the intake forms, I will generate a personalized meal plan to help meet your goals.

Step 2

After I reviews your intake form and food and mood journal, I will formulate a one page, one-week meal plan that you can print off and put on your kitchen fridge.   All recipes will be created to include foods that you enjoy and exclude foods that you do not like.

Step 3

Once you have reviewed the meal plan, I will check in with you to ensure you have a strong understanding as to what you have before you.  I will answer any questions that you have going into your first couple of days.  Regularly scheduled dates and times will be set up with yourself for weekly check ins.

 

Weeks 1 and 2 are generally set up to include many detoxifying foods, and exclude dairy, gluten and an abundance of sauces/dressings.  Another thing that week 1 and 2 will not have, are indlugent meals.  This is because I wants to jump start your progress and help support you to stay on track and learn how to enjoy life’s indulgences in moderation.  Week 3 I will help support you in planning an indulgent meal throughout your week.   This will help set the tone for long term success without feeling deprived or like you are missing out on life with friends and family.

PERSONAL TRAINING PROCESS

Step 1

You and I will meet for a consultation through phone, zoom or in person where I will learn more about your goals and you will learn more about the programming that I offer.  By the end of the consultation I will ask you to made a Yes or No decision to commit to your goals.

Step 2

After you have made the commitment to your fitness program with Miranda Gibson Fitness, I will send you your intake, service agreement and other forms for you to complete.  Once you return the intake forms to Miranda Gibson Fitness for me to review and to finalize your customized fitness program for you to work towards achieving your goals.

Step 3

When you meet with me for your first training session, I will meet you at the door of the gym and take you on a tour of the facility so that you can get your baring’s.  From there we will complete an in-person passive and dynamic physical assessment of your range of motion and mobility.

Step 4

Together we will review the fitness program with as well as the equipment and movements involved.

I will walk you through each exercise, describing the purpose of this exercise, how it will benefit you, the muscle group(s) that you are working.  Most importantly I will be watching you and your form to ensure that you are preforming the exercise correctly to get the most benefit from your training. At times I may need to stop and correct you if necessary.  At times I will need to become hands on to help position you into the proper form but will always ask first.

Step 5

Together we will track your progress, through various ways such as progress photos, measurements, increased strength, endurance and finally weight.

• I offer a 3 tiered training program available in 3, 6 or 12 month packages.  You can register for one of these 3 programs to train once a week to as many as 4 times per week at Miranda Gibson Fitness.

Don’t want to workout alone? No problem, bring your friend, co-worker, significant other, mother, father neighbor etc.  Don’t have a partner, no worries, you can register for a semi-private session and be partnered up with someone new for your 1 hour workout.

The two of you will encourage and push each other while still getting that training program without the cost of private 1:1 sessions.

Semi-private training is available in a 3 tiered training program available in 3, 6 or 12 month programs.  You can register for one of these 3 programs to train once a week to as many as 4 times per week at Miranda Gibson Fitness.

OUTDOOR SMALL GROUP TRAINING

Outdoor as weather permits in North Oshawa. (Max of 10 people)

Twice a week over an 8 week period, you and 9 other people will each have a 6 foot wide work station with all of your own equipment.  You will have 8 feet of space between your work station and the next person so that you can maintain social distancing.

•14 60 minutes sessions
• 2 45-minute sessions
• 2 fit tests & progress tracking during session 1 and session 12.
• Bodyweight and resistance exercises.
• Peer support through private Facebook group.

Independent TRAINING Program

I was skeptical, but I had faith in Miranda as my nutritional advisor and her knowledge and skills. I started my journey with Miranda in September! When we started our bootcamps my hardest task was something that sounded so simple…box jumps! After spending our 6-week course twice a week I was finally able to achieve not one, not two but three different size box jumps without hesitation!
After bootcamp, Miranda and I continues 1:1 session in the evenings … but I found I hated getting home so late after my evening workouts! So, she pushed me out of my comfort zones and now we trains before work in the early hours of the day! I can’t thank her enough for pushing me to be a better and stronger me! I absolutely love working out in the mornings now, I feel refreshed and way less tired then I used to!
